Works to Market Square Bus Station

A programme of work to lay concrete at the concourse of Market Square Bus Station is due to start on Monday, 1 April.

Advance warning signs of the work have been put up in the area to let customers and the general public know.

The work to replace the lanes where buses park up is scheduled to last 15 weeks and will be done over two stages.

During the first stage, which will take around seven weeks – depending on the weather –stands 16 to 21 will be out of action.  Bus services from Stagecoach, NAT and Phil Anslow, which will be impacted by the work will depart from Queensway.

During the second stage of the work, scheduled to start on 13 May, stands 20, 21, 22, 23 and 24 will be out of action. Again all impacted services will depart from Queensway.

The plan for Monday (1 April) is that the following services will depart from the following stands:

Q8 – X15, 15

Q7 – 56, R1

Q6 – 151

Q5 – 24X

Q4 – X24

Q3 – N2, N3

A spokesperson for Newport City Council said: “We apologise in advance for any inconvenience this work may cause however it is necessary to improve the area where buses park up.”
