Newport City Council Leader Councillor Debbie Wilcox and Mayor Councillor Malcolm Linton will be at the match on Saturday when Newport County AFC take on Premier giants Manchester City.

In a good luck message, council leader Councillor Debbie Wilcox said: “I am delighted to be able to attend this exciting match on Saturday as I couldn’t attend the Middlesbrough match as I was working elsewhere.

“I expect the atmosphere will be electric and I would like to wish Mike Flynn and his players all the luck in the world for their match against Manchester City for this sell out fixture.

“Good luck to everyone at the club,  we know you will do us proud.”

Mayor Councillor Malcolm Linton, a life long supporter of Newport County AFC, will also be at the match with wife Sharon, the city Mayoress.

He said: “I thoroughly enjoyed attending the game with the Mayoress and NC chairman Gavin Foxall when County took on Middlesbrough and I am really excited about this forthcoming match with Premier League giants Manchester City.

“I’ve supported County my whole life and I know everyone at the club, along with football fans across the city, are looking forward to Saturday with great anticipation.

“County did us proud and totally outplayed Middlesbrough with two outstanding goals. We are so looking forward to the fifth round game at Rodney Parade. Come on County!” said Cllr Linton.
