No doubt lots of people are fans of popular food programmes such as the Great British Bake Off and Masterchef.

And in Newport we also have a lot of talented chefs who will be demonstrating their amazing cooking skills at the Tiny Rebel Newport Food and Drink Festival on Saturday, 6 October.

The free event means you can sit and enjoy the demos at three separate venues in the city with a chance to taste the dishes being created right in front of you.

The festival is hosted by Newport City Council with the support of our main sponsor Tiny Rebel along with Newport Now, the Celtic Manor and Friars Walk.

As well as browsing more than 80 food and drink stalls you can also visit Newport Indoor Market to witness the Teenchef final where Maindee Youth Club will take on St Julian's Youth Club in a nail biting showdown starting at 11am.

The festival sponsor, Hywel Jones from Lucknam Park Hotel and Spa, will be in the market at noon for the first of four chef demos.

He will be followed by Steve White of the Red Lion, Caerleon at 1pm; Ben Periam of The Pod at 2pm and Gareth Pembridge from the Celtic Manor at 3pm.

There will also be a 'what's in the box' competition at 4pm when chefs will be asked to create dishes from ingredients they will see for the first time on stage.
