Council takes decision to close offices due to severe weather forecasts

Because of the severe weather conditions expected later today Newport City Council has taken the decision to close the civic centre from 1pm and all day tomorrow.
Staffing will be prioritised to essential services The duty teams for social services will be covered, and staff have already proactively been in contact with domiciliary care providers earlier this week to plan cover for those services.
The City Contact Centre will continue to provide a telephone enquiry service though response times may be reduced because of weather related staffing constraints.

The closures from 1pm today affects Newport Civic Centre, Newport Library and Museum, community centres and the Register Office.
