Safety at event at Tredegar Park

Posted on Thursday 5th July 2018

The popular Colour Clash festival is taking place in Newport on Saturday 14 July.

This is a privately run ticketed event and organisers are hiring Tredegar Park where a variety of performers have been lined up to entertain the crowds.

As part of safety considerations that apply to any event of this size and nature, the event organisers are responsible for the safe movement of people in and out of the event.

On this occasion, the event organisers have entered into private agreements with a bus operator and a taxi company to offer a shuttle service to transport people to and from the site.

However, the restrictions they plan to impose regarding drop-offs and pick-ups will only apply within the boundaries of the park and will not affect the public roads.

There is an existing Clearway Order in effect on the Pont Ebbw Roundabout outside the entrance to Tredegar Park.

However, there are no temporary traffic orders in place for the event and, therefore, there are no additional restrictions on where other vehicles can travel on the public highway.

Therefore, other taxi operators are entitled to continue to operate in the surrounding area as long as they do so in a safe and legal manner and in accordance with existing traffic regulations.
