Vandalism closes Ringland Library

Posted on Tuesday 21st August 2018

Newport City Council has been forced to close Ringland Library after vandals smashed double glazed windows causing hundreds of pounds worth of damage.

Councillor Deb Harvey, Newport City Council’s Cabinet Member for Culture and Leisure condemned the vandals and appealed for residents to tell police if they have any information.

“We are so angry that a mindless minority have affected the services on offer to residents.

“We estimate repairs to be more than £1,000 – money that will need to be spent from a budget which is already tight.

“If anyone knows who these culprits are please tell police.”

The library is closed because of the massive clear up operation needed before repairs can be carried out.
