Newport’s popular food festival returns next month and with an amazing line-up taking shape, it promises to be a delicious day out!

The Tiny Rebel Newport Food and Drink Festival 2017 will boast around 70 stalls, expert chef demonstrations and the return of the popular Teenchef competition.

The main activities take place on Saturday 7 October between 9am and 5pm and will centre on High Street, Newport Market and Westgate Square.

An impressive range of exhibitors will be ready to fill your fridge with delights including meats, cheeses, spices and preserves, breads, pastries, cakes and crepes, to pies, pasties, oils and sauces.

When you’ve worked up an appetite exploring the offerings and activities, there will be plenty of refuelling choice – Asian, Greek, Italian or Welsh, pulled pork, burgers, noodles or churros, and of course ice cream for when the sun (hopefully!) comes out.

And we promise to keep you refreshed whether your tipple is Tiny Rebel beer, ale, wine, cider, spirits or something soft.

There will be entertainment and activities for all the family from street entertainers to balloon modelling.

If you like the heat of the kitchen you’ll be able to learn some tricks of the trade with free chef demos taking place throughout the day. We have some of the best chefs in the area joining us including Hywel Jones of Lucknam Park and festival patron, James Sommerin, Dion Tidmarsh of The Golden Lion, Anil Karhadkar of Curry on the Curve, Gavin McDonagh of the Celtic Manor and Tiny Rebel’s Ricky Ash. The full programme is now available on the festival website.

Following the success of last year’s Battle of the Burger, there will also be another head-to-head competition – this year it’s a pie theme!

Over 14,000 people joined us in 2016, despite the odd shower, creating a real buzz across the venues.

The support from local businesses has again been brilliant, enabling us to put together such a fantastic offering. Supporting sponsors of this year’s event are Tiny Rebel, Newport Now, Celtic Manor Resort and The Golden Lion Magor.

The Newport Now Business Improvement District is sponsoring the gallery are of Newport Market – the Newport Now Zone – which will host some of the headline events including demos and the Teenchef competition where you can watch the next generation of chefs battle it out.

The popular Festival Supper is taking place on Monday 2 and Tuesday 3 October at Tiny Rebel’s new premises in Rogerstone where a specially designed five-course meal will be served up.

It promises to be an experience to remember with fantastic food alongside award-winning beers. Tickets must be booked in advance through Tiny Rebel.
