Posted on Thursday 16th November 2017

A national conference bringing together professionals who work to tackle violence against women, domestic abuse and sexual violence (VAWDASV) is being held in Newport this Friday during National Safeguarding Week.

Gwent VAWDASV has organised the event which is taking place at the Christchurch Centre.

It will promote and share partnership working with colleagues from across Wales.

Hosted by Newport City Council, Gwent has been the pilot region for strategic co-ordination of services since 2015.

As a pathfinder, Gwent VAWDASV has led on a number of initiatives to improve services in line with legislation and will be sharing some of the lessons that have been learned at the conference.

It will also be launching the first joint VAWDASV strategy for consultation. This aims to ensure consistency and best practice for the way services are prioritised across the region.
