Bank holiday waste and recycling

Posted on Friday 26th May 2017

Newport City Council will be collecting refuse and garden waste on the usual days in the week beginning Monday 29 May.

Wastesavers will also be collecting kerbside recycling on the normal days that week.

Traditionally, collections are made one day later than normal following a bank holiday. However, in what is expected to be a one-off, collections will not be affected by this spring bank holiday.

It means that council refuse teams and Wastesavers will be working on Monday 29 May for those households who normally have Monday collections and so on through the week.

This will mean that Friday collections will also be made as normal rather than on the Saturday as has happened previously after a bank holiday.

Newport City Council and Wastesavers have decided to make this operational change because the roads are expected to be extremely busy on Saturday 3 June with the Champions League final taking place in Cardiff.
