Carers Week events in Newport

Newport City Council and its partners are holding a series of free events for carers during Carers Week, June 12-18.

The national awareness week celebrates the contribution made by carers who provide unpaid care for family members or friends.

Some of the sessions have limited places but can be booked by emailing [email protected] or telephone 01633 656656.

Programme of events

Monday 12 June: 10am to 2pm at The Tearooms, Belle Vue Park - launch of Dewis, a website giving information and advice for people's wellbeing, and the Carers Network. Coffee and cakes in the morning or lunch in the later session. Speakers, stands and entertainment. Booking required.

Tuesday 13 June: 11am to 1pm in the Oasis Community Centre, Birch Grove, Llanmartin - drop-in sessions with coffee and cake. No need to book.

Wednesday 14 June: 12pm to 2pm in Tiny Rebel, High Street - a men's afternoon tea with a free meal and soft drink. Booking essential.

Wednesday 14 June: 10.30am to 1.30pm in Gaer Community Centre - pamper day with three local beauty therapists, a carer drop in session and free advice from a local firm of solicitors. No need to book.

Thursday 15 June: 1pm to 3pm in Graig Community Centre - carers drop in session with free coffee and cake. No need to book.

Friday 16 June: 10.30am to 2pm in Wales National Velodrome - a free dance fitness class followed by free coffee and cake. Booking required.

Tuesday 4 July: 12pm to 3.30pm in Community House, Eton Road - carers drop in session with free refreshments and lunch. No need to book.
