Personal assistant, Allt-yr-yn area

A female personal assistant is required to help a female wheelchair user in her twenties, to maintain her independence. This young woman has both learning disabilities challenging behaviour and physical challenges.

Personal care duties will be carried out in her home and will include help with washing, showering and dressing. 

There will be regular opportunities to help with accessing community and leisure facilities that provide stimulation.

Full training witll be given.

Applicants must have experience of working with young people with complex care needs, as well as having understanding of the approaches required when working with a person with limited communication abilities.

There are currently three vacancies, the hours being 19 hours for two posts and 35 hours for the other one.

Hourly rate £9.10 per weekday hour and £9.31 per weekend hour.

Successful candidates will be DBS checked which will be paid for by the employer.

Personal assistant, Stow Park area

A personal assistant is required to support a man who is in his forties to access the community. The employer has Asperger’s Syndrome and some mental health issues.

The job includes supporting him to meetings or accessing places such as the GP. He also likes to go for drives and visit specific shops. He will require support to use the phone and certain other tasks. He loves his car and will always drive himself to places; sometimes you can go with him but other times you will need to meet him at places. It would therefore be easier if you were a driver.

You will be required to advocate for him on occasion.

The employer will arrange and pay for a DBS enhanced check.

Hours of work are a minimum of three hours per week. You will be required to cover another employee’s holiday or sickness to a maximum of six hours a week, or any weeks they may not be able to give him the hours he requires.

The hourly rate is £8.10.

Flexibility in availability would be necessary but hours are likely to be evenings and weekends.

Personal assistant, Maindee

A personal assistant is required to support a nine-year-old boy to access the community. The role will include taking him to various leisure facilities and assisting with play. He loves being outdoors, is very active and enjoys going to the park, trampolining, swimming, etc.

This youngster is non-verbal, has a diagnosis of ASD and uses PECS to communicate. Therefore, any prospective employee must have experience/understanding of working with children with disabilities and possess the ability to deal with behaviours associated with limited communication.

Working days and hours are Sundays for four hours, preferably between 11am and 3pm, and school holidays for four hours weekly (2 x 4 weekday hours) - days and times to be negotiated following a successful interview. 

The employer will arrange and pay for a DBS enhanced check and the successful employee must have their own car and business insurance.

The hourly rate is £8.10.

Personal assistant, Malpas area  

A woman with learning and physical disabilities requires a female personal assistant to work alongside her mother for 11 ½ hours per week.

Duties include providing support with her care needs, showering, dressing, feeding, cleaning and laundry duties. 

The working day is generally between 8am and 11am for 1 ½ hrs and includes some weekend work - working hours will be mutually arranged following a successful interview. 

Experience of working in the care sector would be desirable although not essential and the employer will arrange and pay for a DBS enhanced check.

Personal assistant, Caerleon 

A female personal assistant required to support a disabled woman in her fifties who is a wheelchair user to maintain her independence.

Duties will be carried out in her home and will include help with washing, showering and dressing, as well as preparing meals and doing some light domestic tasks. 

Two hours daily usually between 9am and 11am Saturday and Sunday and also full weeks during school holidays. Some experience preferred, but not essential.  

Pay is £8.10 per hour, successful candidates will be DBS checked.

Personal assistant, Broadmead Park

A personal assistant is required to support a male wheelchair user with severe disabilities for 12 hours per week at an hourly rate of £8.10. 

The role will include taking the individual out into the community, assisting him with any feeding and providing activities that will keep him stimulated.

He enjoys outings, parks, shopping and other outdoor activities. 

The working week will include Tuesdays for 6 hours and Thursdays for 6 hours between 9am and 5pm (hours negotiable).

A full driving licence is necessary as you will be required to drive his mobility car.

Personal assistant, Baneswell

A personal assistant is required for 10 hours a week to support a 25 year old male, with days and hours to be agreed following a successful interview.  

Duties will include supporting with daily tasks such as shopping, cooking, housework and general life skills.

Experience of the benefits system and working with people with autism is essential.

The rate of pay is £8.10 per hour and the employer will arrange and pay for a DBS (CRB) enhanced check.
