The disabled children’s team safeguards and promotes the welfare of children and young people under the age of 18 years old who have a severe physical or learning disability.

Staff work long term with disabled children and their siblings to secure permanency for the future.

The team provides specialist packages of care and short break services to ensure that disabled children are able to remain within their own homes. 

This team also manages all aspects of the child protection process and case hold for children on the Child Protection Register and looked after children who have a significant disability.

The disabled children’s team is a multi-disciplinary team based at the Serennu Centre in High Cross, Newport.
