Audit of Accounts 2014/15 - notice of certification of completion of the audit

Notice is herby given that in compliance with section 23 of the Public Audit (Wales) Act 2004 (the Act), the Auditor General for Wales has certified that the audit of the accounts of Newport City Council for the year ended 31 March 2015 has been completed.  

The audit certificate of the accounts was issued on 7 October 2015 and the auditor did not have to issue a report in the public interest under Section 22 of the Act.  

The statement of accounts is available for inspection by local government electors at the Finance Department, Civic Centre, Newport, NP20 4UR between 10.00am and 4.00pm Monday to Friday.

Budget and spending

Newport City Council’s expenditure, income and budgets are split into the revenue account, covering the day to day running costs of providing services including expenditure on salaries, rates, insurance, telephones, electricity, gas and basic repairs, and the capital account, which includes spending on new facilities like refuse vehicles and major repairs and maintenance.
