Each year Newport City Council is required to report on the air quality of the area.

There are 80 diffusion tubes located across the city and data can be downloaded from the Welsh Air Quality website 

There are two automatic monitoring stations in Newport:  

  • A - St Julians - monitors for nitrogen dioxide, nitrogen oxides, polyaromatic hydrocarbons (PAH), benzene, PM10 and PM2.5
  • B - M4 unit - (operated by Welsh Government) monitors for nitrogen dioxide, nitrogen oxide and ozone.

Air Quality Action Plan 

We are developing a new Air Quality Action Plan and would like your views on how air quality could be improved across Newport.
