Notice of intention to make a Public Spaces Protection Order 

The Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014

The Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO)– Dogs on Leads (Coast Path) Newport 2015  

Notice is hereby given that Newport City Council intends to make a Public Spaces Protection Order (“the Order”) under Sections 59, 64 and 72 of the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 (“the Act”) which applies to the Land (“the Land”) described in the schedule below, being land to which the Act applies.

Proposed Public Spaces Protection Order – Dogs on Leads (Coast Path) Newport 2015  

Intended effect of the Order 

1. The intended effect of the Order is that a person in charge of a dog shall be guilty of an offence if, at any time, on any land to which the Order applies, he does not keep the dog on a lead of up to 2 metres in length.  

2. Failure to comply with the requirements of the Order will constitute an offence.  

The draft Order and maps may be inspected between the hours of 8.30am to 4.00pm from Monday to Friday at the Civic Centre, Newport NP20 4UR.

Any representations should be made by email or in writing at the latest by 30 January 2016.

Schedule  

The Wales Coast Public Footpath running from Point A (Grid Reference 324905E:

178756N) at the boundary between Cardiff and Newport, in a north easterly direction adjacent to the Severn Estuary to Point B (Grid Reference 330836E:182475N) for a distance of 7640 metres as shown on Map 1. The footpath continues in a north easterly direction from Point C (Grid Reference 330836E:182475N) for a distance of 3140 metres to point D (Grid Reference 330106E:184738N) as shown on Map 2 and;  

The Wales Coast Public Footpath running from Newport Wetlands Car Park at Point E (Grid Reference 333343E:183510N) for a distance of 10115 metres to Point F (Grid Reference 338290E:182290N) as shown on Map 3. The footpath continues in a north easterly direction from Point G (Grid Reference 338290E:182290N) on top of the sea wall for a distance of 5400 metres to point H (Grid Reference 343126E: 184235N) at the boundary between Newport and Monmouthshire.
