Personal assistant, Alway

A personal assistant is required to support a man in his early fifties in the home with his personal care and to access the community.

He has some learning difficulties and can exhibit complex behaviours.

Duties include bathing or washing and shaving, also helping him to dress. He will need you to prepare food and drinks and prompt him to take his medication. Light housework is required where you would tidy up after him during your working hours.

Hours of work are 15 hours per week, based on the following fortnightly rota:  

Week one = Saturday 2pm to 10pm and Monday 7 hours between 9am and 6pm

Week two = Sunday 8am to 4pm and Monday 7 hours between 9am and 6pm

Some flexibility is required to help cover holidays and sickness for other staff when required. There is also some overnight respite required on occasion.

Daytime hours paid at £9.50 per hour and overnight hours paid at £8.21 per hour.

Personal assistant, Bassaleg

A personal assistant is required for a happy, boisterous, physically strong and active 9 year old boy with ASD.

The role will include taking him out to enjoy activities such as swimming and trampolining. He also enjoys bowling, park and forest walks and activities such as play centres.

Other duties may involve staying at home to support him with play activities such as Lego and toy trains.

Applicants must have experience or understanding of working with children with ASD and be able to deal with behaviours associated with children with limited communication.

They must also be aware that this very active young boy needs 1:1 attention at all times and care must be taken when outdoors to ensure that he stays safe.

The employer will arrange and pay for a DBS enhanced check and the successful employee must have his or her own car and the required insurance cover.

Carers, Allt-yr-yn 

Two carers are required to support a 14 year old disabled girl to access the community, including taking her to various community and leisure facilities and assisting with engaging in physical, social and play activities. 

There may be occasions where support will take place in the family home should her health require as such.  

Applicants must have experience or understanding of working with children with disabilities or health needs and be confident, patient, calm and trustworthy. 

It is essential that the individuals attend a half-day epilepsy training provided by the children’s epilepsy nurses. 

Required hours are three hours a week in the afternoon or evening on Monday, Thursday or Friday during term times and nine hours a week during school holidays over three weekdays. 

Specific times and days can however be negotiated for the right candidates.  

The hourly rate is £9.60 per hour, the employer will arrange and pay for a DBS enhanced check and it is highly desirable that the successful employees hold a full driving licence.

Personal assistant, Caerleon

A personal assistant is required to support an active, energetic 8 year old boy with ASD. This young boy has a great sense of humour and can be boisterous at times which means that he needs to be kept busy with firm boundaries and clear routines.

The role will include taking him to indoor and outdoor activities, such as swimming, soft play, riding bikes and scooters, trampolining, going to the park and other activities to improve social interaction.

Two personal assistants are required to support two children with severe autism. 

The role will include working individually with each child within their home and taking them out into the community e.g. to parks, on forest walks, swimming and activities such as play centres.

A personal assistant is required for a happy, energetic 14-year-old boy with ADHD.

You are required to work five hours a day on two Saturdays each month - the hours will be arranged following a successful interview.

Personal assistant, Spytty/Glan Llyn area

A personal assistant is required to support a happy, energetic 12-year-old boy with ADHD with activities for 11 weekday hours x 13 weeks of school holidays. 

Hours of work will be five hours on Mondays between 8.30am and 1.30pm and another six hours a week, days and times to be arranged with the successful applicant. 

You must have experience or understanding of working with children with ADHD/Anxiety and be able to deal with behaviours associated with children with limited communication.

This is a very active young boy, who needs 1:1 attention at all times and care must be taken when outdoors to ensure that he stays safe.

Personal assistant, Maindee

A personal assistant is required to support a nine-year-old boy to access the community. The role will include taking him to various leisure facilities and assisting with play. He loves being outdoors, is very active and enjoys going to the park, trampolining, swimming, etc.

This youngster is non-verbal, has a diagnosis of ASD and uses PECS to communicate. Therefore, any prospective employee must have experience/understanding of working with children with disabilities and possess the ability to deal with behaviours associated with limited communication.

Working days and hours are Sundays for four hours, preferably between 11am and 3pm, and school holidays for four hours weekly (2 x 4 weekday hours) at a rate of £9.50 per hour - days and times to be negotiated following a successful interview.

Personal assistant, Malpas area  

A woman with learning and physical disabilities requires a female personal assistant to work alongside her mother for 16 hours per week at a rate of £9.50 per hour.

Duties include providing support with her care needs, showering, dressing, feeding, cleaning and laundry duties. 

The working day is generally between 8am and 11am for 1 ½ hrs and includes some weekend work - working hours will be mutually arranged following a successful interview. 

Experience of working in the care sector would be desirable although not essential and the employer will arrange and pay for a DBS enhanced check.

Personal assistant, Baneswell

A personal assistant is required for 5 hours a week at a rate of £9.50 to support a 25-year-old male (days and hours to be agreed following a successful interview).   

Duties will include supporting with daily tasks such as shopping, cooking, housework and general life skills.

Experience of the benefits system and working with people with autism is essential.

The employer will arrange and pay for a DBS (CRB) enhanced check.

Personal assistant, Allt-yr-yn area

A female personal assistant is required to help a female wheelchair user in her twenties, to maintain her independence. This young woman has h learning disabilities, challenging behaviours and physical challenges.

Personal care duties will be carried out in her home and will include help with washing, showering and dressing. 

There will be regular opportunities to help with accessing community and leisure facilities that provide stimulation.

A driving licence is essential and full training will be given.

Applicants must have experience of working with young people with complex care needs, as well as having understanding of the approaches required when working with a person with limited communication abilities.

There are currently two vacancies, the hours being 19 hours for two posts. 

Hourly rate £9.10 per weekday hour and £9.31 per weekend hour.

Successful candidates will be DBS checked which will be paid for by the employer.
