Paracycling Track Competition (C1/P1)

The Wales National Velodrome is home to Welsh Cycling and plays host to national and international competitions, including use by British Cycling for national squad coaching sessions.

The men and women’s C1-3 Kilo/500 and C4-5 Kilo/500 races will be run as combined and factored competitions.

Classification

A full international classification will take place Wednesday 27 November and Thursday 28 November from 09:00.

All athletes must include their classification status with their online entry so that slots may be allocated.

Athletes should state if their classification None, New, Needs Review or is Confirmed

Because there is expected to be a large demand for classification new riders will be prioritised.

You do not need to be a British Cycling member to enter.

Getting to Newport

Newport is 90 minutes from London by rail with direct coach services (opens new website) from Heathrow (opens new website) and Gatwick (opens new website) airports and other major centres.

Accommodation

There is a wide range of accommodation in Newport (opens new website).

A number of rooms have been held at hotels close to the Velodrome, the cost of accommodation is to be borne by riders and teams.

Because of a rugby international in Cardiff on Saturday 30 November the area around Newport and Cardiff could be very busy on Saturday night.

You are advised to book as far in advance as possible to get the best rates.

Transport

Transport for riders and teams is not provided by the organiser.

Accreditation Centre

Accreditation will be available at the accreditation centre on arrival for the first time as per entry lists only.

Each athlete is entitled to one additional accredited helper track centre.

No access is available to accredited areas from Friday 29 November without accreditation.

Training

Official training will take place from 12 noon - 5pm on Friday 29 November, split into sessions and allocated by the competition manager.

Teams will be informed of their allocated session after entries have closed.

If teams wish to arrive early or stay after the event it is possible to book the velodrome for training, email Neil.Sargeant@newport.gov.uk to discuss cost and availability.

Bike storage

The velodrome track centre will be secured with security personnel from the morning of Friday 29 November.

Team pens will be made with barriers, if you wish to store equipment in this area please bring locks as the area will be accessible to accredited personnel.

Doping control

The doping control room is located in the velodrome near the toilets not far from the entrance to the track and will be clearly signposted from track centre.

Each federation / team / athlete is responsible for obtaining the necessary documentation to gain entry into the United Kingdom.
