Newport Children and Young People's Partnership

Newport Children and Young People's Partnership (CYPP) is a partnership of all agencies that contribute to the well-being of children, young people and their families in Newport.

All our Children - All our Business

It includes some key statutory partners such as Police and Health but also involves many other organisations who share our vision for the future health and well being of our children and young people.

The Partnership…

  • Provides the strategic vision and has agreed joint priorities that will direct the work of partners
  • Has set out agreed joint objectives and targets for services in order to improve the outcomes for children and young people and will measure the progress toward achieving these outcomes
  • Recognises the diversity of services which exists in Newport and also the contribution made by individual partners towards meeting joint objectives, ensuring that they are consistent and mutually supportive
  • Will ensure a local response to the requirements of national and local strategies, policies and priorities
  • Provides a basis for the joint commissioning of services and sharing of available funding, including core budgets of statutory partners and resource or financial contributions from the voluntary sector.

To ensure that these things happen, the Partnership has developed the Newport Children and Young People's Plan 2008-11 / Cynllun Plant a Phobl Ifanc Casnewydd 2008-2011 (pdf)

This key strategic document sets out how the well-being of all children and young people in the area will be improved. It is based on the principles that:

  • parents and families are important and may need support
  • children need to be able to enjoy their childhood in a safe and caring environment
  • it is better to intervene early rather than leave things to develop into a crisis
  • children should be given a voice and listened to
We can achieve much more if we work together
