The brave fishermen, Zurga and Nadir, recall a pact they made not to pursue Leila; a woman for whom both had developed a deep affection. When a veiled virgin arrives to pray for the fisherman on their upcoming expedition, the real pearl remains hidden - her true identity. When Leila finally reveals herself, she pits the old friends against each other in a deadly love-triangle. First Wednesday is a regular series of lunchtime recitals at 1pm. A mixture of music is presented across the year, including wind trios, string quartets, classical guitar, harp and much more. A chance to meet up and enjoy music, with lunch or coffee in The Riverfront Café before or after the performance. Since September '09, thanks to support from the Arts Council of Wales, First Wednesdays have been presented by musicians from Sinfonia Cymru.
