Music at St Woolos

The next in a series of Saturday lunchtime concerts at St Woolos Cathedral will be given by Coro Cantabile, a ladies choir singing seasonal music. Coro Cantabile is a choir of 21 ladies drawn from the local area, conducted by Andrew Protherough Jones, and accompanied by Gaynor Smith. The choir was formed in 1959 and took its present name in 2000. It gives concerts in South East Wales, as well as undertaking tours to other parts of Britain. For this concert the ladies have chosen a programme of seasonal music, which represents a veritable A-Z of Christmas, extending as it does from 'Away in a Manger' to the 'Zither Carol', taking in such favourites as 'Christmas Lullaby', 'Little Drummer Boy'. 'O Holy Night' and 'The Star Carol' along the way. The full programme, together with further information about the choir, can be found on the choir's website. Admission to the concert is free, with a retiring collection. Refreshments will be available.
