We can offer you a variety of trade waste contracts; these include two types of container or a bag/label option, at a collection frequency to suit your business requirements, all at competitive prices.
Waste and your duty of care
If you have a business you have a duty of care under the Environmental Protection Act 1990 (Section 34) to store, transport and safely dispose of the waste that you generate.
Download the PDF formatted Waste and Your Duty of Care document at the end of this page for more information.
What you need to do
One of your obligations as a waste generator is to have a trade waste contract with a registered waste carrier, as failure to do so could result in Enforcement Action being taken against you. It is your responsibility to make sure that the person(s) who take your waste away are registered. Apart from Councils, (that are exempt) waste carriers carry a certificate of registration from the Environment Agency. You, as the producer, should keep a copy of this. You also need to transfer your waste to a licensed site.
The transfer must be through a carrier (as above) and carried out with the use of 'Waste Transfer Notes,' documentation that you must fill in and sign and that is transported with the waste. If it is a regular collection you may only need to do this once every year, your carrier should be able to advise and help you. Finally you need to make sure that where you send your waste is licensed by the Environment Agency to accept it. The carrier should be able to supply you with a copy of the licence.
Please make sure you see the schedule to the licence which states what type of waste the site is licensed to take, it is this that is your specific duty under the law, to make sure your waste goes to a site licensed to take it.
