You can now view Street Works in Newport (opens new website) online.

Newport is the first Authority in Wales to join ELGIN, a nationwide initiative to make roadworks information available to the public via the internet.

The website has three main features:

• a map screen
• search facilities
• sign up for email alerts. These can be set up by defining an area of interest on the map and completing a simple web form. Anyone can receive a daily email listing works that are due to be active within their area. This may be of particular interest to commuters.

The ELGIN system should also help us to co-ordinate works by identifying when one or more companies want to work in the same street.

As this is a new service there may be teething problems especially with the accuracy of the information that is displayed. For example, you may come across works on streets that are not shown on the ELGIN system. Please use our online feedback form to contact us with any comments you may have.
