Newport Market offers the finest fresh produce with award winning butchers, the city centre’s only fishmongers, fresh fruit and vegetables, bakeries, clothing, gifts, cards and more.
Newport Market has been central to Newport life for nearly 150 years, read more about the market history.
Newport’s Mayor Councillor Cliff Suller officially opened the new High Street entrance in November. The ribbon-cutting ceremony marked the completion of a £1million project, funded by Newport Unlimited, to refurbish part of the grade-two listed building.
A new central entrance has been created flanked by smart new units topped by brightly coloured canopies.
The market is clearly signposted by a striking monolith in High Street amid new terracing and seating for shoppers.
Some of the units upstairs are also now being used by local artists to showcase their work in a new venture called the Upmarket Galleries.
The mezzanine (upper floor) area has a range of events throughout the year.
The gallery area is available for hire. Please get in touch if you would like to use the market for your own event.
