Guided Walks and Events Programme
Spring – Summer 2010
Please ensure you have a suitable level of fitness to be able to take part in your chosen walk without difficulty. Suitable clothing and footwear is also necessary for these events, especially if the weather is wet or cold. You should also consider sun protection from April to September.
Follow the link to find details of our upcoming Going 4 Gold Newport Walking Festival taking place over the duration of ten days from 21st to 30th April 2010.
Take a look at our our Guided Walks events programme (opens pdf) this Spring and Summer. All the events included in this programme are FREE of CHARGE.
For more information to help you decide whether an event is suitable for you take a look at the grid below or contact the Countryside Service.
Can I manage that walk?
All walks are graded according to difficulty and the level of fitness required. Walks are graded as:
Easy |
no significant obstacles or problems to access |
Moderate |
longer walks with some slopes, stiles, steps and uneven ground to negotiate |
Energetic |
as above, may involve steep climbs and more extended walking |
Please ensure you are properly equipped to attend these walks.
Health and Safety
The safety of anyone attending these events is of the utmost importance. However, accidents can happen and people attending the events do so at their own risk. Any children under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Any vehicles left unattended are left at the owner’s risk.
Dogs
Dogs brought along to the walks must be kept on leads and under close control at all times.
Newport City Council thanks guest leaders for their assistance in organising these events. The co-operation of local landowners, farmers and those providing parking facilities is also greatly appreciated. All the events listed below are free of charge.
