Tea rooms to open at Belle Vue Park

Conservatory Tea Rooms at Belle Vue Park open

Voluntary organisation Vision 21 is transferring its catering training project to Belle Vue Park’s Conservatory Tea Rooms.

The Conservatory Tea Rooms will be open from the Monday 2 April and will operate Monday to Friday from 10am to 4pm.

The rooms will also be open for Easter Holiday period and for weekends from May.

The public will be able to purchase light snacks, choice desserts, ice creams and afternoon Victorian Teas whilst enjoying the park and its newly restored building.

The restoration of Belle Vue Park is being financed by Newport City Council in partnership with the Heritage Lottery Fund and restoration of the pavilion facilities was completed in October last year.

By transferring to The Conservatory Vision 21 is able to expand its sandwich bar to offer a café and buffet facility for meetings, parties and activities booked in the Pavilion building.

Vision 21, is a voluntary organisation working continuously with a variety of local authorities throughout Wales to develop innovative and inclusive emerging social enterprises to provide increasing ranges of options for lifelong learning and employment for people with learning disabilities.

Ros Williams, from Vision 21, said:

“We are in partnership with Newport City Council’s adult services developing new opportunities for people with learning disabilities.

“This social enterprise will train people with learning disabilities to work in catering.

“The council has awarded Vision 21 the contract to operate the catering facility at Belle Vue Park and we know The Conservatory, which has disabled access, will be enjoyed and visited by many people in the community.

”The pilot scheme we operated when the Pavilion opened was very successful and we have received many enquires as to permanent opening.”
