Newport in Bloom

Picture of colourful flowers in a Newport in Bloom garden

Newport in Bloom is a community venture to encourage the people of Newport to develop gardens for pleasure.

Garden skills are encouraged in an annual competition with special classes for schools, residents, commercial properties, public houses and hotels, parish or church gardens and cemeteries, residential houses, nursing homes and health premises and wildlife gardens – school and residential.

Your garden needs you!

It’s never too early to start planning for another wonderful summer display.

The Newport in Bloom competition is open to all with a category for every type of gardener.

Categories include pots, baskets, front gardens, public houses, commercial premises, churches and churchyards, community and neighbourhood, retirement homes and sheltered housing, schools and the individual allotment, a new category introduced last year.

An additional category of Community Council’s Open Class will be introduced this year, which can be entered by residents in the area and is for a flower display in a garden or containers.

Entrants can also enter their appropriate category in the main Newport in Bloom competition.

Each year we see an increase in gardeners entering the competition so why not join them?

When the time is right don those gardening gloves and get planting.

Entry forms will be available in May/June from various publications and via the Newport in Bloom web site.
