The Newport Medieval Ship Project is seeking to appoint a maritime archaeologist to assist with the ongoing documentation and research program, on a fixed term basis for 12 months. Applications are invited from archaeologists with experience in recording and analyzing waterlogged wood remains, including ships and shipwrecks. The focus of the current work includes digital modeling, laser scanning and database/archival work. You will be highly proficient in a range of IT applications, and experience using modeling software such as Rhino 3D or similar computer aided design programs would be an advantage. Applicants should have good communication skills. The position offers a great opportunity to be involved with a major maritime archaeology project.
