E-inclusion - case study

E-Inclusion Recycling (CIC) - Newport’s Computer Refurbishment and Recycling Community Interest Company. - Works to tackle social exclusion in the city by recycling computers from private businesses, public bodies and educational establishments and redistributing them to those in need in Newport through its Social Inclusion Programmes.

Managing Director Julie Traynor founded the company in December 2006 and was initially supported by a Start-Up Rent Subsidy. Julie said “Through the amazing support of Newport City Council providing us with start-up premises, rent subsidies and being our leading strategic partner, E-Inclusion is expanding rapidly. We can’t thank them enough”

The company was later assisted by a Commercial & Industrial Improvement Area Grant which aided the company to expand their premises and helped with painting, flooring, bench-work and electrics.

E-Inclusion is always looking for used PCs to refurbish. Give them a call or alternatively, visit them. Guided tours are also available for groups wishing to learn more about Computer Re-use and Recycling.
