Overview and Scrutiny

Welcome to Newport Overview and Scrutiny

One of the key roles for non executive councillors is to undertake an Overview and Scrutiny role for the council. Scrutiny plays an essential role in promoting accountability in local authorities’ decision making process. Scrutiny can also assist in aligning council policy and its priorities, promoting efficiency and effectiveness and enhancing partnerships work.
