Newport Gateway MENCAP

The inaugural meeting of Newport Mencap Gateway took place at the ‘Kings Head’ Hotel on Friday 9^th April 1954. We were the first society in Wales and still have an active membership 55 years later.

We are providers of regular leisure and community activities for people with a learning disability/challenging behavior.

Newport Mencap also provides an information and referral service to maintain contact with users and carers. We liaise with other local groups and media to raise public awareness of the needs of people with a learning disability.

Even though we are part of a national organisation, every penny raised will be spent on service provision for people here in Newport.

The gateway of opportunity for people with learning disability.
