Welsh Church Act Funds
The Welsh Church Act 1914, which secured the disestablishment of the Anglican Church in Wales, made provision in Section 19 for the funding of church projects.
Today, the fund is not exclusively allocated to church projects.
In line with other Welsh local authorities, Newport City Council receives an annual allocation which, at its discretion, can be awarded for any of the purposes referred to in the scheme.
The Welsh Church Act Scheme enables applications to be for a wide range of charitable objectives including educational, social, recreational and cultural purposes. On this basis applications can be made by:
- churches and chapels
- organisations
- individuals
For guidance on eligibility see Guidance Note (pdf) or download the Application form (pdf).
