The Damned United (15) at The Riverfront Theatre & Arts Centre

Director: Tom Hooper. Starring: Michael Sheen, Jim Broadbent, Timothy Spall. UK, 2009, 1 hour 33 minutes. This follows big head Brian Clough, the 'Special One' of his day, through the disastrous period in 1974 when he took over from Don Revie as manager of Leeds United, the most successful team in the land. He was frozen out by his own players and lasted just 44 days. Adapted from the book by David (Red Riding) Peace who captures the '70s as well as Sheen captures Clough's attractive arrogance.

Summer Fete

A great day out for all ages with burger van, cakes, sweets, ice-creams, teas, choc fountains and cold drinks. A bouncy castle, facepainting and henna, a photographer (instant and reasonable), a great raffle (meal for 2, a £50 celebration cake voucher plus lots more), lots of competitions - wheel of fortune, guess the baby and more - lucky dip and lots more activities. Also for only £3, we will be renting out tables (indoors) for anyone who wants to come and sell their unwanted items you keep the profits). Exhibition: One Day We Will Reach Newport at Fourteen Locks Visitor Centre

This photographic exhibition features the work of Newport student Steve Pepper. It is an exploration of the different faces of the Mon and Brec canal, looking at the beauty and the desolation. Summer Sessions at The Riverfront Theatre & Arts Centre

Summer Sessions will feature an Open Mic Night & a Boutique Market. Once a month throughout the summer, The Riverfront will be hosting a chilled out evening of market stalls and performance. Boutique stalls will adorn the foyer from 5pm till 11pm, including vintage and local hand-made arts, crafts, fashion and accessories. Then, from 7pm till 11pm, music will fill the air out on the terrace. The first Summer Sessions will be part of The Riverfront Open Weekend, and will be FREE! After that, the maket stalls will still be free, and entry to the Open Mic Night will be just £1. Want a stall? Want to perform? Get in touch! We are looking for talented folk for The Riverfront's brand new unplugged night. Wed 1 July Live Music Now! was founded in 1977 by the late Yehudi Menuhin to fulfil two important needs in musical life in Britain; To give talented young professional musicians performing experience at the outset of their careers and to take high quality performances to people who would not otherwise have access to live music. Lindsay Kidd Churchill on Wed 5 Aug (Soprano and Piano) Lindsay was born in Northern Ireland and brought up in South Wales. She gained a BMus (Hons) and the A B Daily Prize from Cardiff University and a Postgraduate Diploma in Performance from Trinity College of Music. Lindsay regularly performs as guest soloist for many of Wales' Male Voice and Mixed Voice Choirs and as a result of this has toured America twice as well as singing in many prominent venues around the UK. She has also performed in Morocco as well as spending a year as a member of The Young Opera Studio in Sydney, Australia.

Admiral Comedy Shed at The Riverfront Theatre & Arts Centre

Age Guide: 16+ Sponsored by Admiral, the Comedy Shed transforms the Studio Theatre into a relaxed cabaret style comedy club and offers you established comedians, the chance to enjoy a drink, have a snack and have a shed load of laughs? Each event features one compere who is the comedy guide for the evening and two other professional top comedians. The Admiral Comedy Shed evenings are very relaxed and intimate and encourage interaction and you are allowed to take purchased drinks and food in and out of the venue! The comedians appearing at the Admiral Comedy Shed are sourced through Off the Kerb (described by The Guardian as "the Best Comedy agency of the past 20 years") who also supply comedians to The Glee Club in Cardiff.
