Image of Tredegar House and grounds in spring

Easy to get to, Newport has a wealth of activities and attractions. Via the vibrant city centre with its own Cathedral and Museum, you have a choice of places to go; the fascinating Fourteen Locks for that canal experience, historic Tredegar House with its pirate connections, the awe-inspiring Transporter Bridge, and even getting to know the Romans at the amphitheatre in Caerleon.

There are changes throughout the year too;

For example, Newport Wetlands Reserve, a RSPB flagship attraction in the UK, has something different to offer with the seasons and the changing life cycles of the birds, animals and plants - spot the very rare species too.

Hunt out hidden treasures such as the Mediaeval Ship (on open days) and year-round art galleries and craft shops – they’re all here.

As home to one of the largest complexes of championship golf courses in Europe, Newport City will be hosting The Ryder Cup at The Celtic Manor Resort in 2010. Meanwhile, there is a choice of over 30 other golf courses in the area.

The Newport International Sports Village, including the Wales National Velodrome, has been the training ground of Olympians and possible future sportsmen and women of 2012 will be practising here too - so come and join in with the swimming, tennis and cycling, just a few of the many sports available.
